OUR PURPOSE IS TO BRING TOGETHER THE SOUTHBANK COMMUNITY, IMPROVE THE CULTURE AND LIVEABILITY OF OUR NEIGHBOURHOOD AND ALIGN LOCAL NEEDS WITH COUNCIL AND STATE GOVERNMENT SUPPORT.
Southbank3006 is a not-for-profit community organisation representing all diverse sectors of Southbank. We are passionate about building community, improving liveability, and advocating for improvement of local issues with council and state government.
To enhance the sense of community among residents.
To improve the liveability, safety, and quality of life in Southbank.
To bring together all residents living in Southbank—low-rise and high-rise in all sectors—as one voice to be heard on issues that are not receiving adequate attention.
To raise awareness of the diverse range of urban, economic, and social issues that impact Southbank residents.
To work with council and state government to ensure that the interests of Southbank residents are met and protected.
Southbank3006 is a group of residents committed to unifying Southbank. Together, we hope to tackle the unique social issues we face as a fast-growing neighborhood consisting mostly of high-rise apartment buildings. As locals, we are committed to making Southbank a safe, thriving neighbourhood that connects people across our diverse village spaces. The founding group includes:
Jannine Pattison has lived in Southbank for over 16 years and has championed the issues of traffic management and safety in our community, regularly meeting with VicRoads and the City of Melbourne on these issues. Her work is bringing about the upgrade of the Power St and City Road intersection and she is currently tackling the Power St and Kavanagh St intersection. Jannine’s goal for Southbank3006 is to create a community where residents and visitors alike feel safe, inspired, and delighted every day.
MaryKay Rauma lives and works in 3006. She is bringing the Southbank3006 community alive with her depth of marketing and communications experience in the USA and Australia. She believes that Southbank3006 residents need a community group that brings people together connecting its diverse neighbourhood sectors and the many nationalities that call Southbank home.
Trisha Avery a well-known long-term resident in Southbank having first moved here in 2009. She believes that the sophistication, extraordinary Arts Precinct, and multicultural demographic provides a dynamism that is unparalleled elsewhere in Melbourne. She has championed local liveability issues for many years across Southbank and South Melbourne and brings a wealth of experience in governance and volunteer organisations. You may recognise Trisha’s name from the byline of her regular column in The Southbank News.
David Hamilton who has been associated with Southbank since 2006 and is a long-term resident. He has been a vocal critic of the City of Melbourne holding it to account on the design, overspending and poor project management of the Southbank Boulevard project.
Larry Howard has lived in Southbank since 2010 and has chaired the Owners Corporation for the iconic Triptych building for much of that time. He has held senior management and executive positions for several large companies he is keenly aware of the value of leveraging diversity to deliver better outcomes. With so much development occurring within our community, Larry is wanting to ensure that the amenity of the area is enhanced and that we influence decision-makers to get the most benefit for all who choose Southbank as their home.
